MOSCOW, September 22 (RIA Novosti) – The US Secret Service is considering setting up checkpoints in public places in the vicinity of the White House, a law enforcement official told The Associated Press.

The security measures were previously discussed by the agency, the official said Sunday. The talks were resumed following an incident Friday.

On Saturday the Secret Service launched a security review to learn how Omar J. Gonzalez, 42, of Copperas Cove, Texas, was able to get inside the front door of the White House carrying a knife on Friday night after jumping over a gate around the compound and sprinting more than 70 yards across the North Lawn. The breach triggered an evacuation of parts of the White House.

Less than 24 hours after Gonzalez's arrest, a second man drove up to a White House gate and refused to leave. A Secret Service spokesman identified the man as Kevin Carr, 19, of Shamong, New Jersey.
