CAIRO, September 21 (RIA Novosti) – Several people were killed when a car near the Egyptian Foreign Ministry’s building exploded in Cairo, a witness told RIA Novosti on Sunday.
“There was an explosion near the Egyptian Foreign Ministry’s building. Police are among those killed,” according to a witness account.
At least two police officers were killed and several others wounded, according to the Interior Ministry, as cited by Reuters.
On Sunday, smoke started rising in the Boulaq area of Cairo behind the Foreign Ministry. The explosion caused a tree to fall on a car.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.
