PARIS, September 18 (RIA Novosti) - France is to set up a military hospital in Guinea, to help fight the Ebola outbreak, French President Francois Hollande said during the traditional press conference on Thursday.

"I have made a decision to set up a military hospital in the forest area of Guinea in the next few days, in the epicenter of the outbreak," Hollande said.

The Ebola disease continues to spread in Western Africa. According to the latest report by World Health Organization (WHO) the disease has claimed the lives of more than 2,600 people in Liberia, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Nigeria and Senegal.

The Ebola virus is transmitted through direct contact with the blood, body fluids or tissue of infected animals or people.

Though there is no officially approved medication for the disease to date, several countries, including Russia, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and Japan are currently working on developing Ebola vaccines.
