MOSCOW, September 16 (RIA Novosti) -France's embattled socialist government led by Prime Minister Manuel Valls on Tuesday secured support of the country's lawmakers in a second confidence vote in less than six months, a RIA Novosti correspondent reported.

The Socialist party, which holds a majority of just one in the 577-seat lower house, won the confidence vote by the slim margin of 269 in favor to 244 against.

The voting comes weeks after a cabinet reshuffle and shortly before the presentation of the country's budget for 2015, scheduled for October.

Earlier on Tuesday, Manuel Valls reaffirmed his plans to cut $65 billion from public spending by 2017 and to provide business with about $52 billion in tax cuts. However, he ruled out cuts to the minimum wage and elimination of the 35-hour working week. He also promised aid for pensioners, living on less than $1,500 a month.
