ANKARA, September 16 (RIA Novosti) -Leaders of Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood organization may come to Turkey, if the review of their request reveals no obstacles, preventing them from doing so, Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told journalists.
"If they [the member of the Muslim Brotherhood] make any request to come to Turkey, we will review their request," Agence France-Presse quoted Erdogan as saying as he was returning from an official trip to Qatar late on Monday.
"If there are any reasons that would prevent them from coming to Turkey, they would be assessed. And if there aren't any obstacles, they would be granted the ease that is granted to everyone," he added.
Earlier, the leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood, who had sought refuge in Qatar after the military coup in Egypt, were ousted from the country. According to Turkish media, they are now searching for somewhere to establish new headquarters, and it will mostly likely be Turkey.
The Muslim Brotherhood is a transnational religious-political organization, founded in Egypt in 1928. It has been outlawed in many countries within the region.
Currently, the United States is gathering an international coalition to fight terrorism, specifically the Islamic State (IS) militants, now active in Syria and Iraq. As of today, 10 Arab countries have agreed to fight IS fundamentalism alongside Washington. The Muslim Brotherhood falls into the "terrorist" category alongside the Islamic State and several other groups.
