Court Reduces Monthly Alimony for Berlusconi’s Ex-Wife to $2.6Mln

Milan's Court of Appeal has ruled to reduce the alimony that former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi pays his ex-wife Veronica Lario, by one-third, to about $2.6 million a month, Italian daily newspaper Corriere della Sera reported Tuesday.

ROME, September 16 (RIA Novosti) -Milan's Court of Appeal has ruled to reduce the alimony that former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi pays his ex-wife Veronica Lario, by one-third, to about $2.6 million a month, Italian daily newspaper Corriere della Sera reported Tuesday.

In December 2012, the Court of First Instance obliged Berlusconi to pay Lario about $3.9 million a month, which is about $130,000 a day. The politician than said that he was going to appeal that decision.

According to the newspaper, Lario still has a right to appeal against the ruling in the Court of Cassation.

Berlusconi met Lario in 1980 and 10 years later they got married. They have three adult children. This was the second marriage for Berlusconi who was previously married to Carla Dall'Oglio from 1965 to 1985.

In May 2009, Lario publicly announced her decision to divorce.

According to media reports, the 77-year-old Berlusconi is currently engaged to Francesca Pascale, who is in her late 20s.
