MOSCOW, September 16 (RIA Novosti) – Islamic State (IS) militants could have used chemical weapons in an attack on Iraqi forces in the town of Dhuluiya, about 43 miles north of Baghdad, according to The Wall Street Journal’s reporter’s Twitter.

“Hearing reports that Islamic State used chlorine gas in an assault on Iraq security forces this afternoon in Dhuluyia… There are now 12 people afflicted with chlorine gas poisoning in Dhuluyia, Iraq, following Islamic State attack on Iraqi security forces,” Matt Bradley wrote on his Twitter page, noting that he cannot verify the information as he is not in Dhuluyia.

IS militant group, formerly known as the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), has been fighting the Syrian government since 2012 and started launching attacks in northern and western Iraq in June, 2014. IS militants have seized vast areas in both countries and have proclaimed an Islamic caliphate on all the territories under its control.
