MOSCOW, September 15 (RIA Novosti) – The Euronews editorial staff in a statement obtained by RIA Novosti Monday denied recent allegations of unfair coverage following a controversial video showing Ukrainian security forces firing at a portrait of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"Euronews is constantly and vigorously providing facts without any judgment and in any case with respect. It was not our intention to offend any of the parties involved, but to serve our audiences everywhere with the bare facts of this report," the channel's editorial staff said.

"Euronews does not censor its content whether it is self-produced or coming from trusted and reputable news agencies. Euronews presented the facts and the reality of this particular story, as we do in all other cases," the statement said.

On September 12, Euronews aired a video showing Ukrainian security forces firing at a portrait of Russian President Vladimir Putin, who was styled as Adolf Hitler. Earlier on Monday, Russia's State Duma Deputy Mikhail Markelov said that the channel might soon be blocked in the Russian Federation over the incident.

According to Markelov, the footage was aimed at inciting hatred, as well as humiliating not only the Russian president, but also the entire population of Russia, who lived through the horrors of World War II.
