MOSCOW, September 15 (RIA Novosti) - Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has submitted to parliament a bill to ratify the Ukraine-EU Association Agreement.

The document was posted on the parliament's website Monday.

The Ukraine-EU Association Agreement is a treaty that presupposes political and economic association between the parties.

The political provisions of the agreement between Ukraine and the European Union were signed back in March, after President Viktor Yanukovych was ousted and the interim government came to power.

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko signed the economic part of the agreement in June.

The ministers of Russia, Ukraine and the European Union agreed at a three-party ministerial meeting Friday that Kiev's free trade pact should enter into force no earlier than December 31, 2015.

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said that if the agreements are violated by Ukraine or the European Union, Russia will respond with measures aimed at protecting its economy, including the cancellation of a preferential trade regime for Ukraine.
