LUHASK, September 13 (RIA Novosti) – First 70 trucks which had delivered humanitarian aid to the eastern Ukrainian city of Luhansk on Saturday headed back to Russia.
Having supplied the people of Luhansk with cereals, tinned food, medicaments and warm clothing, the humanitarian convoy is now making its way to a crossing at the Russian-Ukrainian border.
The unloading of the convoy had come without any difficulties. The trucks, started to leave Luhansk in an organized way, accompanies with vehicles of the local self-defense forces. The pro-independence forces also provide the convoy's security by controlling the situation in settlement
Some of the Luhansk's residents gave apples, grapes, tomatoes and other fruits and vegetables to the drivers, greeting the convoy.
The second Russian humanitarian convoy is expected to complete its mission in Luhansk and return to Russia on Saturday, a source told RIA Novosti. It consists of 200 trucks carrying humanitarian aid with a total weight of 1,880 thousand tons. All Russian vehicles are scheduled to be unloaded by 15:00 GMT.
The first convoy of 280 trucks carrying about 2,000 tons of Russian humanitarian aid was sent to eastern Ukraine in late August and entered the country through a checkpoint controlled by independence forces after spending more than a week waiting at the border.
