KIEV, September 12 (RIA Novosti) – The cabinet of ministers of Ukraine proposed on Friday to introduce an entry ban for citizens of Russia who “support a military aggression against Ukraine.”

“The government’s proposals concern an entry ban for individual citizens of Russia and other states, who supported a military aggression against Ukraine,” the statement reads.

The proposal also includes freezing assets of the entities that supported “a military aggression against Ukraine,” banning state purchase of products and services from Russian entities, introducing new measures of ecological and sanitary control of foodstuffs from Russia, prohibiting the technology transfer, among other measures.

The proposal is to be assessed by the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, after which the final decision will be made.

Earlier in August, Ukraine’s parliament adopted a document paving the way for sanctions against Russia. The measure authorizes the implementation of more than 20 restrictive measures, including freezing Russian assets, curtailing trade operations, banning entry for Russian vessels in territorial waters and ports, and transit flights by Russian airlines. Earlier this week, President Poroshenko signed the bill into law, which goes into effect Friday.

Alexei Pushkov, who heads Russia’s lower house foreign affairs committee, said Wednesday the move is «hysterical and senseless» and is expected to only aggravate Kiev’s situation. Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov reacted by stressing that Kiev’s sanctions will not affect Moscow’s stance on the Ukrainian crisis.
