DONETSK, September 9 (RIA Novosti) – The self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) does not exclude holding dialogue with Kiev in regard to social and economic policies after studying Ukraine’s legislative project on the special status of eastern Ukraine, DPR Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Purgin told RIA Novosti on Tuesday.
“We will carefully study Ukraine’s legislative project on the special status of Donbas. If there are provisions in it that correspond to the goals of the political and economic development of the DPR, then we will not exclude the possibility of holding dialogue with Kiev on the variants of mutual activities in the areas of social and economic policies,” Purgin said.
Officials from Kiev, Ukrainian southern regions, Russia and the OSCE met last Friday in the Belarusian capital of Minsk in an attempt to find a solution to the Ukrainian crisis.
Representatives of Kiev and the self-proclaimed republics of Luhansk and Donetsk in southeastern Ukraine agreed to a ceasefire and reiterated their commitment to the plan. The ceasefire agreement came into force at 6 p.m. local time (15:00 GMT).
Participants of the contact group on the settlement of Ukrainian crisis have signed a protocol of 12 provisions.
On Monday, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko’s advisor Yuri Lutsenko said that the protocol signed in Minsk and published on OSCE website entails Ukraine to adopt the law on special status for the Donetsk and Luhansk regions in addition to holding early elections.
