US Defense Secretary Chuch Hagel told reporters, during a visit to the Turkish capital Ankara, that he is not aware of any secret deal on weapons deliveries to Ukraine.

WASHINGTON, September 9 (RIA Novosti) - US Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel told reporters, during a visit to the Turkish capital Ankara, that he is not aware of any secret deal on weapons deliveries to Ukraine.

Hagel said he was not aware of any kind of secret deal on lethal weapons delivery to Ukraine that was allegedly inked during September 4-5 NATO summit in Wales.

Hagel also expressed hope that the ceasefire in the east of Ukraine will be observed.

On September 7, Yuri Lutsenko, senior aide to the Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, claimed that at the NATO summit in Wales the United States, France, Italy, Poland and Norway had agreed to supply armaments to Ukraine.

On September 8, Poroshenko also stated that the agreement with a number of NATO member states has been reached ensuring direct supplies of weapons to Ukraine.

The same day, Polish President Bronisław Komorowski said that the supplies of weapons to Ukraine were not discussed during the NATO summit.

Reuters disproved the information by citing an anonymous high-profile US official. Italy, Norway and Poland have also denied the existence of any arrangements to supply weapons to Ukraine. France declined to comment on the issue, Reuters reported.
