MOSCOW, September 8 (RIA Novosti) - A military-technical cooperation agreement with Kazakhstan is expected to be signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Russian Government website said in a statement Monday.
“Movement of military goods from one party’s territory to another party’s territory will be based on the extracts from the lists issued by the parties’ competent authorities, without taking respective decisions on the military products supply and licensing,” the statement said.
As for now, Russian companies that do not possess a license cannot trade in arms. This document is intended to facilitate military-technical cooperation between the two countries.
According to the statement, under this agreement the two countries will supply each other military products of the same characteristics and the same configuration as for their own armed forces, and the price will be agreed upon in accordance with the laws of the supplier.
Diplomatic relations between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Kazakhstan were established on October 22, 1992. The two countries have signed more than 300 treaties and agreements between them.
Russia and Kazakhstan have a long history of cooperation in the military and military-technical spheres. Russia currently provides Russian-made weapons to Kazakhstan and assists in the maintenance of their weapons. Russia has a lease on four military testing grounds located in Kazakhstan, whose troops are trained in Russian military schools.
