MOSCOW, September 7 (RIA Novosti) – Members of the Contact Group on Ukraine have preliminary agreed to meet 7-8 days following their Friday talks in Minsk, Prime Minister of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), Aleksander Zakharchenko, told Kommersant FM Sunday.

“We have preliminary agreed to meet again in 7-8 days. They need to voice their requests… According to a preliminary agreement, the group will be expanded,” Zakharchenko said.

During the September 5 meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine, representatives from Ukraine, Russia and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), agreed to a ceasefire between Kiev and independence supporters that started at 15:00 GMT the same day.

On Sunday, the DPR stated that Ukrainian troops had repeatedly shelled militia positions and that residents of Donetsk reported hearing gunshots in the city on Saturday and throughout Sunday morning and early afternoon.

The Ukrainian military, in turn, stressed that it was fully complying with the ceasefire agreement and accused militia forces of attempting to attack the Donetsk airport and opening fire on a number of positions of Ukrainian security forces.

Ukraine has been engulfed in violent internal conflict since mid-April, when Kiev began its military operation against independence supporters in the southeastern regions of the country.
