MOSCOW, September 7 (RIA Novosti) – The self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) and Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR) are ready to return all of the captured Ukrainian military included on lists to Kiev, the Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of Luhansk, Igor Plotnitsky, told RIA Novosti on Sunday.
"In the Minsk draft memo we agreed upon the implementation of a ceasefire, the signing of which realizes peace, and we provided the Contact Group with lists of our comrades who are held by force on the Ukrainian side. We are ready to return all listed Ukrainian military captives on our side," Plotnitsky said.
Plonitsky told RIA Novosti that LPR and DPR hope to complete procedures enabling the exchange of prisoners over the next few days.
The meeting of the trilateral contact group on the settlement of the Ukrainian crisis on September 5 in Minsk resulted in Kiev authorities, LPR and DPR to reach a series of agreements, particularly on a ceasefire in eastern Ukraine.
The main provisions of the truce establish a halt to hostilities and the exchange of prisoners from both sides of the conflict.
