MEXICO, September 4 (RIA Novosti) - Interpol declared Venezuela’s former Finance Minister Rafael Isea wanted on charges of corruption, El Universal reported, citing the country’s Prosecutor General Luisa Ortega Diaz.

“He was included in Interpol’s red list, and we are currently working on bringing the dollars which could be [on his accounts] across the border back to the country,” Diaz was quoted as saying Wednesday.

The Venezuelan prosecutor general added that the country had launched an investigation into Isea’s possible corruption activities, but did not specify any further details.

After being appointed finance minister, Isea became a governor of Venezuela’s Aragua state, a position that he held until 2012. He also was the president of ALBA Bank. Later, Isea criticized Venezuelan authorities, accusing Nicolas Maduro’s cabinet of corruption.
