Ukraine has decided to construct new nuclear facilities, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk said Wednesday during a government session.

KIEV, September 3 (RIA Novosti) – Ukraine has decided to construct new nuclear facilities, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk said Wednesday during a government session.

“While preparing steps in [the country’s] energy strategy, we made the decision on the necessity of building new nuclear facilities to increase the volume of electrical energy,” Yatsenyuk said.

Yatsenyuk added agreements on the construction of the new facilities would be reached by the end of year.

Last week, it was reported that the negotiations, focused on energy issues and involving energy ministers from Ukraine, Russia and the European Union, will be held on September, 6.

On August 26, Minsk hosted Customs Union-Ukraine-EU talks following which, President Poroshenko met with Russian President Vladimir Putin for a private conversation, which lasted for about two hours.

Putin said that the sides had agreed on the necessity to resume consultations on gas and energy issues.
