MOSCOW, August 29 (RIA Novosti) -The brother of murdered American journalist James Foley asked the United States to do more to save Steven Sotloff, another US journalist held hostage by Islamic State (IS) militants.

"I urge the US government, our partners and our allies to do everything they can and to treat this with the utmost sense of urgency because there [are] things that can be done," Michael Foley said on the Good Morning Britain television show Friday.

Foley went missing in Syria in November 2012 while covering the country’s civil war. On August 19, the IS released a video of him being beheaded by a militant with strong British accent.

The IS called Foley’s death a revenge for US airstrikes against militants in Iraq and warned that Sotloff, who had been kidnapped in August 2013, would be the next hostage to be killed if the attacks continued.

Earlier this week, Steven Sotloff’s mother Shirley Sotloff released a video addressed to IS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi appealing for her son's release.
