MOSCOW, August 23 (RIA Novosti) – Five people from one family have been killed in an Israeli airstrike on the Gaza Strip, Agence France-Presse reported Saturday, citing Palestinian medical sources.
The Israeli Defense Forces airstrike hit a house in the center of the Gaza City, killing a man, two women and two children aged three and four.
In total, Israel carried out over 20 airstrikes over the Gaza Strip on Saturday. Meanwhile, the southern territory of Israel was hit by three Palestinian rockets or mortars, according to the agency.
On Friday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed harsh retribution against Hamas after a four-year-old Israeli child was killed by a mortar from Gaza.
Hostilities in the six-week military conflict between Israel and Islamist rulers of Gaza Hamas resumed on Tuesday as Egyptian-brokered truce talks collapsed. The conflict claimed the lives of some 2,000 Palestinians and over 60 people on the Israeli side.
