MOSCOW, August 21 (RIA Novosti) - The “Zarya” (Russian for “dawn”) military tactical challenge will be held near Moscow on August 23, with the participation of “Soviet” and “US” teams, one of the organizers of the contest told RIA Novosti.
“The participants fighting for ‘the USSR’ and ‘the USA’ will have an entire set of Airsoft weapons, ranging from pistols to rifles and grenades. Real military hardware, such as T-90 tanks, MT-LB personnel carriers and BMP-3 infantry combat vehicles, will add to the authenticity of the challenge,” the source said.
The contest is based on the plot of US film “Red Dawn,” which sees the United States invaded by the Soviet Union.
The goal of the challenge is to encourage a sense of patriotism and motivate people to serve their country, as well as to promote a healthy lifestyle and help soldier rehabilitation.
The military challenge is to take place in Alabino, a town near Moscow. Earlier, the area hosted the 2014 Tank Biathlon world championship from August 4 to 16, in which tank crews from Angola, Armenia, Belarus, Venezuela, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Kuwait, Mongolia and Serbia were among the contestants.
