MOSCOW, August 21 (RIA Novosti) - Former defense minister of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People’s Republic, Igor Plotnitsky, has been appointed its new prime minister.
Igor Venediktovich Plotnitsky was born on June 25, 1964, in Luhansk.
In 1987, he graduated from Artillery Chief Marshal Voronov Higher Artillery Engineering College in the Russian city of Penza.
In 2008, he obtained a master’s degree at Volodymyr Dahl East Ukrainian National University, majoring in civil service.
From 1982 to 1991 Plotnitsky served in the USSR Armed Forces, subsequently becoming Reserve Major.
From 1992 to 1996 he worked in several companies as a manager and deputy director of sales.
From 1996 to 2002 Plotnitsky founded and headed a firm that specialized in wholesale and retail sales of oil and lubricants.
From 2004 to 2012 he worked for the local consumer rights protection agency as the chief specialist; the deputy department head; quality assurance and nonfood products head, oil and lubricants department head; market monitoring department head.
In May 2014, Plotnitsky was appointed defense minister of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People’s Republic.
On August 20, 2014, Plotnitsky was appointed prime minister of the Luhansk People’s Republic.
He is married and has two children.
