MOSCOW, August 21 (RIA Novosti) - Russians in Argentina have expressed their concern over the fate of International Information Agency Rossiya Segodnya photographer Andrei Stenin and have called on the Ukrainian government to do their utmost to find him, the Coordinating Council of Russian Compatriots in Argentina said in a statement.

“The Coordination Council of Russian Compatriots in Argentina expresses its concern about the disappearance of Russian photojournalist Andrei Stenin who was last seen in eastern Ukraine on August 5 and who has not been heard from since,” the statement said. “We would like to join the ranks of international organizations who have expressed their concern about Andrei’s fate.”

“We are asking the Ukrainian government to take all the necessary measures in order to find Andrei as soon as possible or set him free, if he is being detained,” the statement added.

Since August 5, Stenin’s colleagues have been unable to reach him. Previously he had been working in the troubled southeastern regions of Ukraine. Reports suggest that the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) in Zaporizhia Region in southern Ukraine detained the photographer, but Kiev denied the information.
