MOSCOW, August 20 (RIA Novosti) - French President Francois Hollande said he would organize conference on security in Iraq and Syria as well as actions against the Islamic State (IS) during an exclusive interview with Le Monde, Reuters reported Wednesday.

"We can no longer keep to the traditional debate of intervention or non-intervention," Hollande told Le Monde in remarks published Wednesday.

IS is a Sunni group that has been fighting in Syria and northern Iraq. IS militants have announced the establishment of an Islamic caliphate stretching from Iraq's Diyala province to Syria's Aleppo and forced hundreds of thousands in the territory to flee, including ethnic and religious minorities.

"We have to come up with a global strategy to fight this group, which is structured, has significant financing, very sophisticated weapons and threatens countries like Iraq, Syria and Lebanon," Hollande said in the interview according to Reuters.

The IS is growing militarily and financially stronger as it conquers more regions in Syria and northern Iraq. The terrorist group reportedly controls most oil and gas fields in Iraq and Syria and sells crude oil to finance its violent operations.
