MOSCOW, August 20 (RIA Novosti) - At least ten Palestinians, including the wife and daughter of a Hamas military leader, lost their lives as Israel resumed its air strikes against Gaza, local health officials said Wednesday.

“The wife of the great leader was martyred with his daughter,” senior Hamas member Mousa Mohammed Abu Marzook wrote on Facebook, confirming the deaths of military leader Mohammed Deif’s family members, Palestinian Ma’an news agency reported Wednesday.

A family of seven is said to have been killed in the attacks as well.

Charging Israel with “opening a gateway to hell,” Hamas militants fired three missiles Tuesday night, some eight hours before the planned end of the ceasefire. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu followed by ordering the Army to resume strikes on the Gaza Strip and instructed the Israeli delegation to return from peace talks in Cairo.

A spokeswoman for the Israeli Army told RIA Novosti that there had been about 60 rockets fired on Israel since Tuesday. Israel has attacked the same number of targets in the Gaza Strip.

According to the United Nations, nearly 2,000 Palestinians and 67 Israelis have lost their lives since Israel’s launch of Operation Protective Edge on July 8.
