MOSCOW, August 18 (RIA Novosti) – The United Nations will need months to repair approximately one hundred of its facilities, destroyed as a result of Israeli airstrikes against the Gaza Strip, the organization’s humanitarian and emergency chief Valerie Amos said late on Sunday, as quoted by Reuters.

"Damage to hospitals, schools and UNRWA shelters where people displaced sought refuge will take months to rebuild,” Amos told journalists in Tehran, where she arrived to discuss humanitarian cooperation with Iranian authorities.

At least 97 buildings, belonging to the United Nations have been destroyed or damaged in Israeli bombings since the beginning of the operation on July 8.

On Thursday, a five-day ceasefire was agreed on by Israel and Hamas, building on the previous truce. It is to expire midnight on Monday, and negotiators in Cairo hope to prolong it to be able to discuss a more durable solution at a later date.
