MOSCOW, August 16 (RIA Novosti) - Canada has sent its third and final aircraft with military equipment to Ukraine, according to the Department of National Defense and the Canadian Armed Forces’ website.
“The third and final aircraft filled with military equipment for Ukraine left today as part of Canada’s ongoing support to that country,” the statement published on the website on Friday said.
Canada’s contribution amounts almost up to $5 million and includes a range of targeted protection, medical and logistical equipment, such as helmets, ballistic eyewear, protective vests, first aid kits, tents and sleeping bags.
Kiev said earlier that it did not receive any military support from any country in the course of its military operation.
The Ukrainian regions of Luhansk and Donetsk are currently facing a humanitarian crisis, as a result of Kiev’s ongoing military activity in the country’s southeast. Moscow has repeatedly urged the Ukrainian government to put an end to the conflict.
The confrontation started when the Ukrainian government tried to suppress the independence supporters in southeastern Ukraine who refused to acknowledge the new authorities after the government coup on February 22.
