Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa plans to visit India next year, as both countries aim to amplify their economic and trade relations, Prensa Latina reported citing Ecuador’s Deputy Foreign Minister Leonardo Arizaga.

MOSCOW, August 15 (RIA Novosti) -Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa plans to visit India next year, as both countries aim to amplify their economic and trade relations, Prensa Latina reported citing Ecuador’s Deputy Foreign Minister Leonardo Arizaga.

On Thursday, Arizaga told the news agency that the visit was planned in the fourth round of consultations between the foreign ministries.

According to Arizaga, the date of Correa’s visit to India will be agreed shortly.

Currently trade between the nations totals $485 million per year, at a ratio of almost 12 to one in favor of Ecuador. Both countries are convinced that they have vast potential for cooperation.

The fourth round of consultations between Ecuador and India was held on August 13, in New Delhi. The Ecuadorian delegation was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Arizaga, and the Indian delegation by the secretary for the West in its Foreign Ministry, Dinkar Khullar. The topics discussed included trade and investment, as well as defense and technical cooperation.
