MOSCOW, August 14 (RIA Novosti) -The Swiss government has imposed additional restrictions on military exports to Russia and Ukraine, says a statement published on the Swiss Federal Council website.

According to the statement released on Wednesday, the council has ruled to “expand the ban on military equipment exports to Russia and Ukraine to include [dual-use] military goods.”

According to The Local, the new restrictions apply to the supply of drones, training aircraft, stimulators and radio equipment. Additionally, authorities issuing licenses for dual-use goods were instructed to take a “restrictive approach.”

The Swiss council has also decided to adopt “all the necessary measures so that the EU-imposed sanctions cannot be circumvented on Swiss territory,” instructing the Swiss Federal Department for Economic Affairs to elaborate on the measures. However, Switzerland has not agreed to participate in the EU sanctions against Russia.

The document released on the council’s website adds that Switzerland, as chair of the OSCE, is seeking to contribute to a peaceful resolution of the Ukrainian conflict.

The European Union and the United States have imposed several rounds of economic sanctions on Russia over its stance on the crisis in Ukraine. The measures target Russia’s finance, energy and defense sectors. Russia has responded to the Western sanctions by banning food imports from the European Union, the United States, Canada, Australia and Norway.
