More than 100 civilian residents of Ukraine’s eastern city of Luhansk have been killed since Kiev launched its military operation against independence supporters, the city’s authorities reported Thursday.

LUHANSK, July 31 (RIA Novosti) – More than 100 civilian residents of Ukraine’s eastern city of Luhansk have been killed since Kiev launched its military operation against independence supporters, the city’s authorities reported Thursday.

“Civilians are still being killed in the administrative center of the region. Since the escalation of the situation, Luhansk residents have lost 102 people – their mothers, sisters, children, husbands, fathers. Just yesterday, July 30, three innocent people were killed, including a 15-year-old teenager,” Luhansk’s city council wrote on its website.

The city is still mourning the military operation victims and will be in mourning until “the bloodshed in Luhansk ends,” the statement said.

Kiev has been carrying out a military operation in eastern Ukraine since mid-April. Moscow has described the ongoing military action as a punitive operation and has repeatedly called on Kiev to put an immediate end to the bloodshed.
