Prime Ministers of Malaysia, Netherlands to Hold Meeting on MH17 Crash

Prime Minister of Malaysia Najib Razak and his Dutch counterpart Mark Rutte will meet later on Thursday to discuss “the consequences of MH17 plane crash in Ukraine, which claimed lives of citizens of both Malaysia and the Netherlands,” the official statement issued by the Hague government said.

MOSCOW, July 31 (RIA Novosti) – Prime Minister of Malaysia Najib Razak and his Dutch counterpart Mark Rutte will meet later on Thursday to discuss “the consequences of MH17 plane crash in Ukraine, which claimed lives of citizens of both Malaysia and the Netherlands,” the official statement issued by the Hague government said.

It is expected that after the meeting Razak will leave an entry into the book of condolence.

According to media reports, a two-day visit of Malaysian prime minister to the Hague will be fully dedicated to the issues of investigation of the causes of MH17 crash. A joint statement of the two leaders will be issued after the meeting.

Earlier Dutch and Malaysian authorities said that they were determined to put to justice those responsible for the crash of Boeing 777 but are not planning on filing a lawsuit to the International Criminal Court (ICC).

A total of 298 people, including 85 children and 15 crew members, died on July 17 as Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 en route from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur crashed in the Donetsk region of Ukraine. The tragedy claimed the lives of 193 Dutch citizens.

The cause of the tragedy remains unclear and the investigation into the circumstances is still underway, seriously obstructed by continuing clashes between independence supporters and the government forces in the region.
