Thirty Palestinians have been killed overnight in bombings that started again in the Gaza Strip, local medics confirmed.

GAZA, July 29 (RIA Novosti) - Thirty Palestinians have been killed overnight in bombings that started again in the Gaza Strip, local medics confirmed.

Yesterday, the Israeli Army said it suspended active military operations in Gaza. However, the fact that 10 Israeli soldiers were killed on Monday pushed the military command to return to its old methods.

According to the military, over 60 targets in Gaza were struck last night. The Palestinian Health Ministry said that at least 14 people were killed as Israeli warplanes struck the El-Bureij refugee camp. Twelve people were also killed in southern town of Rafah, where an explosion was reported at the home of Islamic Jihad commander Ahmed Najam. Three people died in a strike on Khan Yunis.

Last night, Israeli aircraft fired a missile at the home of Hamas Gaza leader Ismail Haniyeh. Gaza’s Finance Ministry, Hamas’s broadcast outlets, Al-Aqsa TV and Al-Aqsa Radio were also targeted, as well as the mosque opposite the empty presidential residence.

At the same time, eight Palestinian missiles landed on Israeli territory.

On Monday, Israeli Army urged the residents of the northern part of Gaza strip to evacuate.

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon expressed serious concern over Israel’s calls for civilian evacuations and said that it would have devastating humanitarian consequences for civilians.

Health officials say that some 1,095 people have been killed in the fighting over the last three weeks, with 6,500 wounded. Israel has lost 56 people, including 53 officers and soldiers.

Israel launched its Gaza offensive on July 8, targeting the Hamas movement and its allied groups of rebels in response to Palestinian aggression. On July 17, following days of fighting, Tel Aviv switched to a land invasion to find and destroy the network of Hamas tunnels that crisscross the border area.
