Russia hopes that its experts’ participation in the MH-17 crash investigation in the east of Ukraine will ensure its integrity, Russian Permanent Representative to the UN Vitaly Churkin said on Monday.

UNITED NATIONS, July 29 (RIA Novosti) - Russia hopes that its experts’ participation in the MH-17 crash investigation in the east of Ukraine will ensure its integrity, Russian Permanent Representative to the UN Vitaly Churkin said on Monday.

"Our experts are ready to participate and I’m encouraged to hear that some of them are going to be included in this investigation,” Churkin said at a press conference at the UN headquarters in New York.

According to Churkin, Russian experts will ensure that the integrity of the investigation. He also noted that it was “quite suspicious why it took so long for the Kiev authorities to negotiate this agreement with the Dutch.” He stressed that Russia “[doesn’t] want anybody to interfere in that investigation.”

Russia’s UN Envoy also pointed out that military activity by the Ukrainian forces around the crash site does not comply with the UN resolution adopted on August 21. “Today we’ve heard statements by some Ukrainian security officials that it was their intention to take over the site militarily. That of course will amount to direct violation of the resolution 2166,” he noted.

The UN Security Council adopted a resolution on August 21 demanding that those responsible for this incident be held to account and all military activities be immediately ceased near the crash site to allow for security and safety of the international probe.

Malaysia Airlines MH17 en route from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur crashed in eastern Ukraine on July 17. All 298 people on board, including 192 Dutch nationals, died in the crash.
