MOSCOW, July 26 (RIA Novosti) – Forensic experts have identified the first victim of the Malaysian Boeing crash, which happened last week in Ukraine, Agence France Press reported on Saturday citing the government of the Netherlands.
"Today the first victim of the flight MH17 disaster was identified. It is a Dutch citizen and the victim’s family and mayor of where they lived have been informed," the justice ministry’s statement was quoted.
Neither the name of the victim nor the gender has been revealed.
"The team of 200 specialists is busy with the identification process, but warns that it can take months for all the victims to be identified," the statement added.
Ukraine’s Ministry of Internal Affairs earlier confirmed that the laboratory for the identification of the crash victims would be established in Kharkiv.
The Malaysia Airlines plane with 298 people on board, including 85 children, crashed on July 17 near the town of Torez in eastern Ukraine’s Donetsk Region. There were no survivors. As 193 of the victims were Dutch the Netherlands is carrying out their identification.
