Emergency workers in eastern Ukraine have discovered 272 bodies of the 298 who died in the Malaysian Airlines passenger crash, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk said Monday.

KIEV, July 21 (RIA Novosti) – Emergency workers in eastern Ukraine have discovered 272 bodies of the 298 who died in the Malaysian Airlines passenger crash, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk said Monday.

“I have just been told that Ukraine’s government service for emergency situations has found 272 bodies, of which 251 are stored in refrigerator [cars] at the [train] station in Torez,” Yatsenyuk said during a briefing.

Yatsenyuk added that 810 workers were operating at the scene of the crash, including 355 from the government service for emergency situations.

On Sunday, at least 196 bodies were reported found, with 27 more recovered later in the day, according to Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman. The body count hiked to 251 early on Monday. Body fragments were not included in the estimates.

All of the remains are stored in refrigerated rail cars at the Torez railway station near the crash site in Ukraine’s Donetsk region. Search parties are scouring an area of 120 square kilometers around the plane crash site.

Malaysia Airlines' Flight MH17 en route from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur crashed on July 17 near Donetsk in eastern Ukraine. All 298 passengers on board the airliner perished, including 283 passengers and 15 crew.

Ukrainian government and militia have been trading blame for the alleged downing of the plane, with independence supporters saying they lacked the technology to shoot down a target flying at altitude of 10 kilometers (6.2 miles).

Commenting on the crash on Friday, Russian President Vladimir Putin said it was vital to abstain from hasty conclusions on the case before the international investigation was over.

The United Nations’ Security Council late on Sunday night completed the text of its resolution regarding the Malaysia Airlines crash and will vote on its adoption Monday afternoon.

Russia’s UN envoy Vitaly Churkin said that Russia would support the UN Security Council resolution demanding an unbiased investigation of the plane crash.
