FBI Investigators to Head to Malaysian Plane Crash Site in Ukraine – Report

Investigators from the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will travel to the crash site of the Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 in eastern Ukraine, ABC News reported, citing a senior official in the US administration.

MOSCOW, July 18 (RIA Novosti) – Investigators from the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will travel to the crash site of the Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 in eastern Ukraine, ABC News reported, citing a senior official in the US administration.

The source told the television channel that the FBI and the NTSB will take an "advisory role" in the investigation of the tragedy. The channel has not specified how many people will head to Ukraine and when.

On Thursday, US President Barack Obama had a telephone conversation with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and said that all the evidence should remain untouched for the investigation.

On Friday morning, it was reported that a tripartite contact group of the representatives of the Organization for the Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), Ukraine and Russia had held a video conference with the militia, urging them to cordon off the crash site. The OSCE reported that the militias guaranteed safety and free access to the crash site to international investigators and observers.

A Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 flying from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur crashed near the town of Torez in the Donetsk Region on Thursday, killing all 283 passengers and 15 crew members on board.
