Bolivian President Evo Morales has invited Russia’s biggest oil company to work in the country.

BRAZILIA, July 17 (RIA Novosti) - Bolivian President Evo Morales has invited Russia’s biggest oil company to work in the country.

“We now expect Rosneft to come to our country. We also expect this company to have deeper relations [with Bolovia]. We place particular emphasis on investment cooperation,” Morales said late on Wednesday during his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Vladimir Putin talked with his Bolivian counterpart on the sidelines of the 6th BRICS summit in Brasilia, Brazil.

Evo Morales’s invitation came after the United States sanctioned the Russian oil giant over Moscow’s alleged role in the Ukrainian crisis.

Rosneft CEO Igor Sechin called new US sanctions unfounded, illegitimate and biased, stressing the company had no impact on the situation in Ukraine. He also accused Washington of targeting Russian economy with restrictions on its “major budget revenue generating entity.”

On Wednesday, the US Department of the Treasury introduced a so-called Sectoral Sanctions Identification List that affects companies and institutions in defense, energy and banking sectors of the Russian economy. The list includes Rosneft.
