The conclusion of the final international agreement on the Iranian nuclear program is being hampered by the United States, Head of the Center for Modern Iranian Studies Radzhab Safarov said.

MOSCOW, May 21 (RIA Novosti) – The conclusion of the final international agreement on the Iranian nuclear program is being hampered by the United States, Head of the Center for Modern Iranian Studies Radzhab Safarov said.

"It benefits the US ... This is an attempt to put pressure on Iran, to add such items to the agreement, which would then slow the Iranian activities in the field of high technology, cooperation in the field of nuclear energy with certain countries, including Russia," Safarov said during a roundtable organized by RIA Novosti on the P5+1 international talks on Iran’s nuclear program.

"This is a cynical position to isolate Iran, to deprive Russia of very promising contracts in the Iranian energy sector," the expert said.

Iran is ready to do everything possible to accommodate the concerns of other countries in regard to its nuclear program, Safarov added.

On Sunday, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi announced that the next round of talks will be held in Vienna from June 16-20. He admitted that the parties have some unresolved issues, but Iran believes the draft of the final agreement on the nuclear program could be completed soon.

In November 2013, Iran and the P5+1 group agreed in Geneva on the temporary limiting of Iran’s nuclear program in exchange for a partial halt of US and EU sanctions against Iran. A complete agreement guaranteeing the lack of a military component to Iran’s nuclear program is scheduled to be finalized by July 20.
