KIEV, May 6 (RIA Novosti) – Foreign experts will take part in the investigation of the tragic clashes and fire last Friday that left dozens dead in the southern Ukrainian port city of Odessa, Ukrainian Interior Minister Arsen Avakov wrote on Facebook on Monday.

“The results of investigation of events in Odessa would be revealed. We are currently engaging foreign experts into the investigation. For the sake of objectivity,” Avakov wrote.

The minister also said that four Ukrainian law enforcement officers had died and 20 were injured Monday during a special operation, launched by Kiev in the southeast of the country.

“We lost four officers, 20 are injured,” he wrote, adding that over 30 pro-federalization supporters were killed and dozens wounded in the course of the military operation.

On Friday, Ukraine saw the bloodiest violence since the February overthrow of President Viktor Yanukovych, with dozens killed in clashes across the country. The highest casualty toll was reported in Odessa, where 46 "anti-Maidan" activists died and over 200 were injured when the Trade Unions House was set on fire by Right Sector radicals.

According to Vadim Savenko, a member of Odessa’s Regional Council, Kiev’s authorities are hiding the real information about the number of activists who were killed in the fire. Savenko told RIA Novosti that 116 people had died in the Trade Unions House.

Federalization supporters in the eastern cities of Kharkiv, Donetsk, Gorlovka, Slaviansk and Kramatorsk have refused to recognize the legitimacy of the current Ukrainian government, demanding Crimea-style referendums on the status of their regions. In response to pro-federalization rallies, Kiev’s interim government has launched a special operation against the protesters.

Moscow has repeatedly called on Kiev to immediately halt the crackdown, saying it was a breach of its responsibilities under the April 17 Geneva accords providing for the de-escalation of the Ukrainian crisis.
