KIEV, April 2 (RIA Novosti) - European markets will be opened for Ukrainian products on May 15, Ukraine's interim Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk said Wednesday.

"Beginning May 15th European markets will be available for Ukrainian goods and services," said Yatsenyuk.

Ukraine and EU signed the political portion of an association agreement on March 21. The EU also declared a plan to open its markets for Ukrainian products on a unilateral basis. Yatsenyuk announced the Ukrainian economy will receive an additional $400 million in the next year if the EU countries allow Ukrainian goods on its markets.

On February 22, Ukraine went through a regime change. The country's parliament, the Verkhovna Rada, ousted President Viktor Yanukovich, changed the Constitution and scheduled early elections for May 25. Yanukovych was forced to flee Ukraine under threats to his personal safety but remains the legally elected head of the state. Moscow has contested the legitimacy of the new leadership.
