BISHKEK, December 10 (RIA Novosti) – Three people were killed in a collapse at a coalmine in northern Kyrgyzstan on Tuesday, a spokesman for the republic’s emergencies service said.
Two trucks loaded with coal were buried under the rubble when the accident struck the Kara Kech coalmine at 5:00 a.m. local time.
“Three people in those vehicles have died, their identities are being established,” the spokesman said.
According to a preliminary police investigation, the vehicles were not authorized to enter the coalmine’s territory.
Investigators are working at the scene to find out what triggered the collapse and how the vehicles managed to cross into the restricted area.
