STRELNA/MOSCOW, September 5 (RIA Novosti) – A discussion focused on the critical situation in Syria is not currently on the agenda of the G20 summit in St. Petersburg, Russia’s presidential spokesman told RIA Novosti.
“A separate meeting isn’t currently planned, but it all depends on the leaders,” said Dmitry Peskov, President Vladimir Putin's press secretary.
Peskov also said there “are currently no changes” concerning communications between Putin and US President Barack Obama at the summit.
The G20 summit was originally due to have been preceded by a bilateral Putin-Obama meeting in Moscow. That discussion was cancelled following heightened tension over Russia’s decision to grant temporary asylum to fugitive whistleblower Edward Snowden, despite Washington’s repeated demands for his extradition to the US.
The G20 summit is taking place September 5 and 6 in the St. Petersburg suburb Strelna. The annual international leaders’ meeting usually focuses on economic issues, but this year is happening against a background of possible intervention in the Syrian conflict by the United States and France, strongly opposed by Russia.
A separate meeting between Putin and Obama has also not been officially planned, though media speculation on the issue has been rife, with a report in Russian tabloid Moskovsky Komsomolets Thursday claiming a meeting of the two leaders was all but unavoidable.
Speaking to reporters at the G20 on Thursday, Russian Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that "a separate meeting [between Putin and Obama] is not planned but there will, nonetheless, be some kind of conversations."

- BlizzardTop of HYPOCRISY15:06, 05/09/2013Just now about12:25 I was listened news on German TV channel PHOENIX and they had several eminent commentators discussing about current situation. One of them laid down very nicely a set of questions which puts US in very unpleasant situation by exposing US double standards.
Obama tries to present himself and US as a unique world champion of human rights and in this context he is lecturing the world about righteousness of his unilateral decision to attack Syria.
He is calling a world to answer on presumed Syrian government attack with poisonous gas as a historical precedence after the first world war. He is also mentioning Sadam Husein attack on Kurdish village but does not mention US worst crime committed by using poisonous gas during Vietnam war when US used Orange Agent to destroy forests and everything living. Even American soldiers died due to exposure to the Orange Agent.
US never pressed criminal charges against US president's and politicians to answer for committed crime.
We still have good memory of US using White Phosphorus bombs and shells in Irak's town of Faluga despite being forbidden by international law and UN resolution. As consequence to that use hundreds of civilian died of horrible death as poisonous gas developed by white Phosphorus. No one was called to respond to the charges.
And do not forget that it is absolutely not sure who in reality used gas in Syria. There are evidences that scores of Syrian soldiers fallen ill due to this gas. If government would shell the place they would make sure that there would be no their soldiers.
According to some other evidences are that Syrian rebels who escaped from Syrian Army had every chance and possibility to steal these canisters from the warehouses and taking them away to use them whenever they want.
Obama is claiming that only Syrian Army has gas and means of delivery. Well I as former army officer know very well that this is rubbish and is based on his assumption that not many people know that he is laying.
Deployment of gas is very easy and if handled by knowledgeable people very safe for them as well. Mr Obama should inform himself about it before starts to lie so blatantly.
It seams to me that Obama is building his image as one of the worst layers. George W Bush was know as one of them but as many lies spread Obama during his role there is quite difficult to find one worst than him.
Hope he will realize that the world is not sleeping and we are watching what is going on and therefore treating us as mushrooms is not wisest think.
Iran has been a central Russian ally in the Middle East, despite considerable tensions between the two. But by renewing dialogue with the West, the new Iranian leadership has chosen another direction. The shifting terrain in the region creates new strategic, political and economic challenges for Russia.
