BUENOS-AIRES, July 17 (RIA Novosti) - Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his longtime companion Cilia Flores married in a civil ceremony on Tuesday, HuffingtonPost.com reported.
According to HiffingtonPost.com, Maduro announced his wedding on Tuesday on state TV during a ceremony in the presence of the country’s governors presided over by the ruling socialists' Caracas mayor, Jorge Rodriguez.
Maduro and Flores, a former Venezuelan attorney-general, were a couple for some two decades, according to HuffingtonPost.com.
Maduro was sworn in as Venezuelan president earlier in the year replacing Hugo Chavez, who had ruled the South American nation for 14 years. He died on March 5 at the age of 58 after a two-year fight with cancer.
