WASHINGTON, July 15 (RIA Novosti) – Academy Award winning, cult American filmmaker Roger Corman is set to deliver a master class at the Fourth Odessa International film Festival, according to the festival website.

Corman, 87, is often described as “King of the B-movies.” Working as a screenwriter, director, distributor and producer, he has been a prolific maker of low budget films since starting his career in the 1950s.

Corman’s filmography includes the original “Little Shop of Horrors,” the early Sylvester Stallone vehicle “Death Race 2000” and the more recent “Attack of the 50 foot Cheerleader,” according to the IMDB website. He is also responsible for launching the careers of prominent Hollywood talents such as Francis Ford Coppola, Martin Scorsese and Jack Nicholson.

Corman, who was awarded the Academy Award for Lifetime Achievement in 2009, will be speaking at the festival on Wednesday about the “Direction and Production of Independent Films,” where he will share his secrets on making money from movies about monsters, aliens and scantily clad women in prison to an audience of film students.
