MOSCOW, May 12 (RIA Novosti) - The sheriff of Caroline County, Virginia, where Boston bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev has been secretly buried, said that “all paperwork is in order," suggesting the interment was legal and nothing can be done about it, CNN reported.

Tsarnaev’s body was interred early on Thursday at the Al-Barzakh Cemetery in the town of Doswell, Virginia, after numerous cemeteries in his adopted home state of Massachusetts and in other states refused to bury the alleged bomber, whom US authorities accuse of carrying out the bombing at the Boston Marathon.

As Caroline County residents expressed their confusion and disgust over the burial, officials voiced concern that the grave site might become a target for protesters or vandals. They said they would review the matter to make sure all protocols were followed.

The checks did not turn up anything to indicate the burial was done improperly.

"Unfortunately, we now find ourselves forever connected to this tragedy in the most unsavory way, as the final resting place of one of the alleged terrorists," Caroline County Sheriff Tony Lippa said.

Tsarnaev, 26, was killed during a shootout with police on April 19, four days after a pair of explosions near the finish line of the marathon killed three people and injured more than 260 others.

His brother, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19, is now in detention.
