MEXICO, April 19 (RIA Novosti) - An international airport in Haiti’s second largest city of Cap-Haitien will be named after Venezuela’s late president Hugo Chavez, Latin American media reported on Thursday.
“We are talking about the international airport in Cap-Haitien that will bear the name of Hugo Chavez… Because its construction was financed by Venezuela,” said Gary Bodeau, a spokesman for Haiti’s Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe.
The city of about 190,000 people on the north coast of Haiti also plans to name one of its squares after Chavez.
The authorities of Haiti declared three days of national mourning after the former Venezuelan leader died of cancer on March 5.
