MOSCOW, February 7 (RIA Novosti) – Tunisian Prime Minister Hamadi Jebali said he will dissolve the Islamist-led government and form a new national unity administration, Al Jazeera reported on Thursday.

His statement follows the killing of prominent secular opposition leader Shokri Belaid, who was shot three times in front of his house. His murder provoked a wave of protests in Tunisia.

"After the failure of negotiations between parties on a cabinet reshuffle, I decided to form a small technocrat government," the agency cited Jebali as saying.

Two years after the revolution and the ouster of former President Zine El Abedine Ben Ali, Tunisians are unhappy that living conditions have not been improved since then.

Protests swept Tunisia in mid-December of 2010, forcing Ben Ali, who had ruled the country for 23 years, to flee to Saudi Arabia. Tunisians took to the streets again in late February, forcing Prime Minister Mohammed Ghannouchi to resign. The Tunisia uprising set off protests around the Arab world.
