DAMASCUS, January 22 (RIA Novosti) - A blast in western Syria’s Hama province left at least 10 people killed and an unspecified number injured, Syrian state television reported on Tuesday.

A suicide bomber drove a car full of explosives on one of the central streets in the town of Salamiye, some 200 km (125 miles) to the north of Damascus, and set off the bombs.

CNN reported citing the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, that the blast in the Hama countryside killed at least 30 armed people loyal to President Bashar al-Assad.

Syrian opposition, backed by the West and some Arab countries, is pushing for President Bashar al-Assad’s ouster as the main condition for the settlement of the almost two years old internal conflict that has already claimed over 40,000 lives, according to human rights monitors.
