NEW YORK, January 3 (RIA Novosti) - US State Secretary Hillary Clinton was on Wednesday discharged from the hospital a few days after doctors found a blood clot in her head, a spokesman for Clinton said.

“Secretary Clinton was discharged from the hospital this evening. Her medical team advised her that she is making good progress on all fronts, and they are confident she will make a full recovery,” Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Philippe Reines said in a press statement on Wednesday.

The announcement late Sunday that Clinton, 65, had been admitted to a hospital in New York for treatment of the blood clot was the latest in a string of recent health woes to hit the top US diplomat.

The clot was discovered between the brain and the skull behind Clinton's right ear, but doctors said it had not caused any neurological damage, adding that it was being treated with blood thinners.

Clinton is “eager to get back to the office, and we will keep you updated on her schedule as it becomes clearer in the coming days,” Reines continued.

“Both she and her family would like to express their appreciation for the excellent care she received from the doctors, nurses, and staff at New York Presbyterian Hospital Columbia University Medical Center,” he said.

The NY1 television channel reported earlier that the US secretary of state was seen Wednesday afternoon getting into a van with her daughter Chelsea, and her husband, former president Bill Clinton. The channel cited officials as saying she was being moved for more testing.

Hillary Clinton is set to step down from her position early in 2013.
