UNITED NATIONS, August 30 (RIA Novosti)
The UN Security Council unanimously adopted a resolution on Thursday extending the peacekeeping mission in Lebanon for another year.
The resolution extends the mandate of the 11,500-strong United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) until August 31, 2013, UN spokesman Farhan Haq told journalists.
The council condemned "all attempts to threaten the security and stability of Lebanon, reaffirming its determination to ensure that no such acts of intimidation will prevent UNIFIL from implementing its mandate."
UNIFIL is tasked with overseeing a peace along the border between Lebanon and Israel.
Five UN peacekeepers were killed by a roadside bomb in December, in an attack that UN chief Ban Ki-moon said "deeply disturbed" him.
The UN force has been in southern Lebanon since 1978 but was expanded after a 2006 war between Israel and Lebanon's political party and militant Shia Muslim force, Hezbollah.

We have witnessed the total defeat of western Ukraine, Western nationalists and the West in general, which made the unfortunate decision to support the anti-government activity. They failed to realize that the collapse of Yanukovych means the collapse of Ukrainian unity. They set fire to their own home and planted a time bomb under Ukraine’s territorial integrity.
